Getting to Newark



Newark, Delaware is very easy to get to from all points, and is accessible conveniently by road, rail and air. The Amy E. du Pont Music Building is located at the corner of Orchard Road and Amstel Avenue in Newark. Most of the Workshop activity will take place here and at the adjacent Roselle Center for the Arts.

Interstate 95 logo

Interstate 95 passes approximately 2 miles from the Amy du Pont Music Building, and the UD campus is about 15 minutes away from the south end of the New Jersey Turnpike. Approximate driving times to Newark: 40 minutes from Philadelphia; 2½ hours from New York City; 90 minutes from Baltimore; 2 hours from Washington, D.C.; 6 hours from Boston; and 5 hours from Pittsburgh.


Railroad Track

On the rails, Newark is served by Amtrak and SEPTA (in connection with New Jersey Transit), with more frequent arrivals and departures from nearby Wilmington (about 15 minutes away).  SEPTA's R2 line serves Newark and Wilmington via Center City Philadelphia, primarily during the morning and evening rush hours. Amtrak serves Newark (NRK) once daily on southbound and northbound routes, but makes frequent stops throughout the day (including Acela service) in Wilmington (WIL).


Airport Symbol

Newark is situated between Philadelphia International Airport (PHL - (approximately 45 minutes away) and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI - about 1 hour 10 minutes away). Newark (NJ) Liberty International (EWR) is approximately 2 hours by car and has convenient rail connections to Wilmington and Newark, DE.


Motorcoach image

Bus service is available to Wilmington via Greyhound and to Philadelphia by Greyhound and a number of low-cost carriers from many points along the Northeast corridor. Delaware Transit Corporation (DART) provides local connecting bus service from the Wilmington bus and train stations.
